LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University’s Candice Ray and Elizabeth Surdam were named the TranSouth Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Ray scored the game-winner in the 86th minute on the road in a 1-0 victory over Bethel University on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the TranSouth Championships. It was just her second goal of the season and the first game-winner for the Kingston Springs, Tenn., native.

Surdam posted her third shutout of the season, making 20 saves and facing 32 total shots in a 1-0 victory over Bethel. The Gallatin, Tenn., native made 10 saves in each half, keeping the Wildcats off the board until her teammates scored the game-winner in the 86th minute.

The freshman has a 1.45 goals-against-average and 94 saves in 15 matches this season. It is the third Player of the Week honor for Surdam this season.
