Langille, Parsons score twice in win over No. 24 USAO

LEBANON, Tenn. – Kelsey Langille and Rhianne Parsons both scored two goals in the second half, as Cumberland scored all of its goals after the break for the second straight match in a 4-1 triumph Sunday morning against 24th-ranked University of Science and Arts in McKenzie, Tenn.

The teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half but Cumberland struck early in the second period, with Langille netting her fifth goal of the season in the 50th minute. Parsons made it 2-0 for the Bulldogs in the 56th minute, her first score of the year, but USAO’s Britani Soesbee scored in the 62nd minute, cutting CU’s advantage in half.

Cumberland finished strong for the second consecutive day, with Langille adding a goal in the 77th minute and Parsons finishing off the scoring on an assist from Simone Quinn in the 80th minute.

Elizabeth Surdam made four saves in net for the Bulldogs in her first action of the season.

Cumberland hosts seventh-ranked Martin Methodist on Thursday at 2 p.m. in CU’s home opener.
