Langille scores three more, Parsons two in 9-0 triumph

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Kelsey Langille recorded her third hat trick this season and Rhianne Parsons added two goals in a 9-0 victory over the University of Rio Grande in women’s soccer action Sunday at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

The Bulldogs (5-1-0, 1-0-0) opened Mid-South Conference action with the win with complete domination, outshooting the RedStorm 38-0, taking eight corner kicks to none and forcing URG keeper Allison Keeney to make 11 saves in net.
Simone Quinn added three assists, Kaitlin Phillips had two helpers and Renee LaRose, Meaghan Lyons, Brenna Evilcizer and Shauna Gilpin each scored one goal for the Bulldogs.

Parsons put the Bulldogs ahead for good in the ninth minute with her third goal of the year on an assist from Phillips. Gilpin netted a goal in the 15th minute on assists from Langille and Quinn before scores from Langille (18th minute) and LaRose (25th minute), both on assists from Quinn.

Langille scored twice more just before the half, the first unassisted and the second from Taylor Nay, and Parsons added another score before the break on an assist by Gilpin for a 7-0 Cumberland lead.

Evilcizer and Lyons, both freshmen, each found the back of the net in the second half. Evilcizer scored in the 64th minute on an assist from Phillips before a goal by Lyons from Evilcizer in the 77th minute finished the scoring.

Cumberland heads to Campbellsville University for a 5 p.m. CT match on Wednesday and hosts the University of the Cumberlands on September 22 at 1:30 p.m.
