LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Kelsey Langille scored a pair of goals in a three-minute stretch of the first half and Lindsay Kitson made six saves in net for her third shutout of the season in a 2-0 Cumberland victory over Campbellsville University in women’s soccer action Wednesday evening in Campbellsville, Ky.
The Bulldogs (6-1-0, 2-0-0 Mid-South) won their third straight match since falling to then 11th-ranked Martin Methodist, 2-1, on September 6. Cumberland dominated the second half in the match but was unable to add to the lead.
Langille put the Bulldogs ahead in the 32nd minute on assists from Kaitlin Phillips and Mackenzie Keele and then added an unassisted score, her 15th of the season, in the 35th minute for the final tally of the match.
Campbellsville (2-4-1, 0-1-0) led in the shots category in the first half, 10-9, and had three corners to none for the Bulldogs, but CU took control of possession after the break and outshot the Tigers, 15-5, and had a 3-1 advantage in corners in the second period.
Kitson made four saves in the first half and two saves in the second for her second straight clean sheet in net.
Cumberland hosts the University of the Cumberlands this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.
