LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland remained No. 1 for the fourth straight week in the NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday. This week’s poll includes matches through Sunday, October 26.
The Bulldogs took home 588 points and 18-of-21 first-place votes, earning their fourth No. 1 ranking in school history.
CU won 12 straight matches from September 6 through October 23, rising from No. 8 in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll to No. 1 on Oct. 7. Cumberland opened the season with a victory over Tennessee Wesleyan before a 1-1 draw against William Carey on Sept. 5.
The Bulldogs lost their first match of the season on Monday to seventh-ranked Lindsey Wilson and in the process failed to defend their Mid-South Conference regular season championship. CU will be the No. 2 seed in the MSC Championships that begin in two weeks against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
Cumberland’s only remaining regular season match takes place November 3 at ninth-ranked Northwestern Ohio.
