Women's soccer moves up to No. 17 in NAIA Coaches' Poll

LEBANON, Tenn. – After posting a pair of road victories with one over a Top 15 opponent, Cumberland women’s soccer jumped eight spots to No. 17 in this week’s NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released Tuesday by the national office.

The Phoenix registered a 2-1 road win at Campbellsville University last Tuesday and then claimed a 3-1 victory at then 12th-ranked Lindsey Wilson on Friday, ending an eight-match losing streak to the Blue Raiders that dated to a 1-0 triumph on October 16, 2013.

Cumberland has won four straight matches and currently owns a five-match unbeaten streak. CU has allowed just two goals during the four match winning streak.

Junior Rebecca Holloway leads the club with 18 points, posting five goals and a team-best eight assists, while senior Emily Shires has a team-high seven goals along with three assists. Juniors Mariah Aplin (six goals, one assist) and Savannah Moreland (four goals, five assists) have each tallied 13 points.

Cumberland plays two of its next three matches at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field to conclude the home schedule, taking on Georgetown College this Friday at Noon.
