LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland women’s soccer is the No. 1 seed in this week’s Mid-South Conference Championships and will take on the University of Pikeville on Friday in the quarterfinals at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, Ky., as announced Monday by the league office.
The Phoenix claimed the program’s second Mid-South regular season championship, outscoring league opponents, 28-4. Cumberland has won nine straight matches overall and posts a 10-match unbeaten streak as well.
Cumberland ends the regular season Tuesday with a 1 p.m. match at third-ranked Martin Methodist before taking on Pikeville on Friday at 9:30 a.m. CT. CU posted an 11-0 victory over the Bears at home just nine days ago. In that contests Emily Shires netted a hat trick and Kaitlen Kisiloski, Rebecca Holloway and Savannah Moreland each registered two goals.
Cumberland has collected a 10-4-0 mark in the MSC Championships since rejoining the league in 2012, reaching the finals of the tournament in four of the five campaigns with one title in 2012.
