LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland seniors Ashley Kambeitz and Mariah Aplin were voted First Team Google Cloud Academic All-Americans®, as announced this week and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior, hold a 3.30 GPA and above and be a starter or major contributor off the bench to be eligible for nomination to the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams. Those selected for the Academic All-District teams go into a pool for the Academic All-America teams.
Aplin led the Mid-South Conference and ranked eighth nationally with 16 assists this season to go with five goals. The Adelaide, Australia, posted an assist in 11 of the team’s 20 matches this year, including four against Bryan College and three versus the University of Pikeville. She holds a 3.95 grade-point-average in Psychology.
Kambeitz ranked No. 21 in the nation with a 0.76 goals-against-average, recording 11 shutouts and 73 saves in 20 matches. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native allowed just one goal through the team’s first 10 outings this season. She carries a 4.00 GPA in Accounting/Marketing.
Kambeitz and Aplin join Kaitlen Kisiloski (2016, 2017), Dayle Weslosky (2016) and Kaitlin Phillips (2014) in the list of Academic All-Americans® in program history.
