Garijo Garrido loses in regional singles final
Ainhoa Garijo Garrido finished as the runner-up in the singles competition at the ITA Southeast Regionals in Georgetown, Ky.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Ainhoa Garijo Garrido dropped a 6-1, 6-3, decision to Isabella Dale from the University of the Cumberlands in the women’s tennis finals at the ITA Southeast Regionals Sunday in Georgetown, Ky.

Garijo Garrido posted four singles victories to reach the finals before losing to Dale, who was ranked in the Top 10 nationally each of the last two seasons. It marked the first time a Cumberland player reached the finals in singles at the regional tournament since former All-American and current CU assistant coach Angelica Sepulveda also lost in the finals in 2015.

In a new process in 2017, Garijo Garrido will apply for a wild card spot to the ITA Small College Championships.
