Landi, Garijo Garrido pick up wins at UC

LEBANON, Tenn. – Marianela Landi and Ainhoa Garijo Garrido each won singles draws but the duo lost in the doubles final for Cumberland women’s tennis on Saturday at the University of the Cumberlands Fall Invitational in Williamsburg, Ky.

Landi defeated Luke Lyttle from the University of the Cumberlands, 6-2, 6-2, and posted a 1-6, 6-4, 10-5, victory over UC’s Jaclyn Jewell.

Garijo Garrido collected a 6-1, 6-1, win versus Reinhardt University’s Yamit Vodavoz and recorded a 7-5, 6-3, victory over Tomomi Nagao from the Cumberlands as well.

In doubles Landi and Garijo Garrido dropped an 8-4 decision to Lindsey Wilson’s Jovana Pecic and Minja Gligic but came back with an 8-4 win versus Tennessee Wesleyan’s Haruka Hirata and Noemi Principal.

Cumberland plays its final fall tournament this Saturday at Campbellsville University.
