LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland junior Ainhoa Garijo Garrido registered two singles and two doubles wins, earning Mid-South Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honors Monday, as announced by the league office.
The Albacete, Spain, native defeated Campbellsville University's Brenda Aguilar, 6-0, 7-6 (6), and the University of Pikeville's Andrea Hurtado, 5-7, 6-3, 10-4, at No. 1 singles.
Garijo Garrido and and Jessica Hernandez, ranked sixth nationally in doubles, posted wins at No. 1 doubles versus Campbellsville's Aguilar and Bolor Enkhbayer and against Pikeville's Hurtado and Charlie Nijenhuis.
She improved to 11-1 in dual match singles and she and Hernandez upped their mark to 10-1 in dual match doubles this semester.
Cumberland ends the regular season this Saturday, facing fourth-ranked Lindsey Wilson at 2 p.m. at the Tommy Gray Memorial Courts.
