Women's tennis falls to No. 21 in NAIA Coaches' Top 25

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland women’s tennis fell seven positions to No 21 in in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released Tuesday by the national office.

The Phoenix, 10-5 overall and 3-2 in Mid-South Conference play, won three of its five matches over the last two weeks, dropping a 5-3 decision at then 20th-ranked University of the Cumberlands and losing 5-4 at then 17th-ranked Georgetown College. CU defeated then 25th-ranked Campbellsville University along with Shawnee State and the University of Pikeville.

Cumberland is just 4-4 in its last eight matches after beginning the year 6-1, losing 5-3 or 5-4 to sixth-ranked William Woods University, Southeastern University, the Cumberlands and Georgetown. The Phoenix end the regular season this Saturday at home, facing 14th-ranked Lindsey Wilson at 2 p.m. at the Tommy Gray Memorial Courts.

Cumberland takes part in the Mid-South Conference Championships scheduled for April 18-20 in Bowling Green, Ky.
