LEBANON, Tenn. – Charles Shimukova and Ishmael Arnold finished 1-2 in the 400-meters while Dylon Dishman and Josiah Scott both placed eighth in field events for Cumberland track and field Saturday at the ETSU Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
Shimukova improved his time in the 400 to 48.68, winning by 1.07 seconds over Arnold in the event finals on Saturday. Shimukova’s time of 49.84 was second-best among 49 competitors on Friday. Arnold finished second in the event in 49.75.
Scott placed eighth and Caleb Staten was 10th in the shot put with marks of 43-2.25 and 41-10.5, respectively, while Dishman cleared 6-2.75 in the high jump. Camryn Jacobs posted a mark of 21-feet, 2-inches in the long jump for 13th place and Kalea Barnett finished ninth in the women’s shot put with a mark of 40-10.25.
In other running events, Cornelius Kipchumba finished 12th in the 3000-meters in 9:09.08 and Amber Mays placed 11th in the mile run in 5:34.89.
The men’s distance medley relay team of Carlos-Angeles Solis, Jacobs, Emmanuel and Kipchumba finished third in 11:22.36 and the women’s DMR of Faith Wilson, Hannah Spring, Mays and Riley Kilian placed third as well in 13:47.86.
Cumberland takes part in the Emory Crossplex Invitational this Sunday in Birmingham, Ala.
