Judy Seckel enters her eighth season as a Volunteer Assistant for the men’s and women’s cross country program in 2020-21. Her primary responsibilities include serving as Recruiting Coordinator, managing the program’s social media platforms, coordinating team community service and community involvement opportunities, leading and planning fundraising efforts, managing team uniform/equipment ordering, and inventory, pre-season retreat planning, and coordinating and planning team travel.
As a distance runner, Judy has competed in numerous 5K races in Tennessee, as well as in Colorado and Massachusetts. She has competed in five consecutive Boston Athletic Association (BAA) 5K races, and her half marathon debut has been postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19 cancellations. Seckel is a USA Track and Field (USATF) member and has completed coaching education courses through NFHS.
After studying business at Tennessee Temple University, Seckel embarked on a 24-year career in the hospitality industry, specializing in hotel management at properties in such locations as Texas, Michigan, and Tennessee. Her experience includes several management positions in nationally known facilities such as Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Hilton Suites Downtown Nashville. She also has worked over 10 years’ experience as a Ministry Assistant at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church and Green Hill Church and has served her churches for many years in church choirs and as both a pre-school and adult Sunday School teacher.
She is married to Coach Jim Seckel and resides in Lebanon. Their daughter Kristen lives in Hermitage, Tennessee.
