Game canceled; Bulldogs TSAC champions
Friday, May 1, 2009

LEBANON, Tenn. -- Cumberland's Friday baseball game against Martin Methodist has been canceled because of rain and inclement weather in the Midstate area. Good news though for the Bulldogs. By virtue of Trevecca's loss at Union University, Cumberland claims its second TranSouth Conference regular season championship and will be the No. 1 seed at next week's TSAC Championships at Fesmire Field in Jackson, Tenn.

The Bulldogs will face either Martin Methodist or Bethel College at Noon Monday in the opening round of the TranSouth Championships. Bethel College is playing a three-game series at Mid-Continent this weekend and BC needs to sweep the Cougars to make the six-team field.

Trevecca will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and faces host Union at 7 p.m. Monday, while Freed-Hardeman and Lyon College will play at 3:30 p.m. as the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds, respectively. Information on the tournament and complete coverage may be found at www.transouth.org.
