Miller, Post named Players of the Week
LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland seniors Kris Miller and Robert Post were named the TranSouth Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, on Monday after helping the Bulldogs to a three-game sweep of rival Trevecca Nazarene and a victory over No. 8 Lee University last week. Cumberland has now claimed 12 of the 16 TranSouth Player of the Week awards this season.
Miller was 11-for-19 (.579) in six games with three home runs, one double, one triple, 13 RBIs and six walks, as the Bulldogs went 5-1 for the week. The senior walked three times and hit a solo homer in the triumph over Lee and added a single and an RBI versus Campbellsville Univ.
In the three games against TNU, the New Caney, Texas, native collected five hits in nine at-bats with a double, a triple and two homers. His three-run shot in Friday's opener put the Bulldogs ahead early in a 15-3 triumph, and his three-run homer in Saturday's first game proved to be the game-winner, as the Bulldogs erased a 3-0 deficit. He added three more hits Sunday against Lindsey Wilson and raised his season average to .403 with 15 doubles, 13 home runs and 53 RBIs.
Post picked up two victories during the week, one in relief against Lee Univ. and one in a six-hit shutout of Trevecca Nazarene.
