LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Aaron Wilkerson and Tommy Crews were named the TranSouth Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, late Monday after their performances last week in contests against Tennessee Wesleyan, Shawnee State and Blue Mountain College.

Wilkerson won his fifth straight start this season and his 19th consecutive overall, tossing eight shutout innings in a victory at Blue Mountain on Friday. He ran his scoreless innings streak this season to 34.1, as the righthander has allowed just two runs all season, those in his opening start at 12th-ranked Belhaven University.

The Waco, Texas, native gave up three hits, did not walk a batter and struck out nine against BMC, as the Bulldogs led 7-0 when he departed the game. For the season Wilkerson is now 5-0 with a 0.49 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 37.0 innings of work. He has allowed only 15 total hits and 24 total baserunners in his five outings, and opponents are batting just .121. It marks the third time Wilkerson has been named the TSAC POW in his career and second this season.

Crews batted .400 (8-for-20) in five games during the week, scoring eight runs with three doubles, two homers and eight RBIs. He collected three hits against 14th-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan and versus Shawnee State, including a double and home run in each contest, and drove in six totals runs in the two outings, including five RBIs versus TWC.

Crews added a pair of hits, three runs scored and two RBIs in the weekend series at Blue Mountain. For the season he is batting .294 with five doubles, two homers, nine RBIs and 11 runs scored in 26 contests after yesterday’s game versus Embry-Riddle.
