Cumberland ranked 17th in NAIA Coaches' Poll

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland is ranked 17th in the first regular-season edition of the 2011 NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released late Tuesday by the national office. The Bulldogs were No. 1 in the nation in the Preseason Top 25 announced in November.

Cumberland is 25-11 overall after Tuesday’s doubleheader sweep over Georgetown College. The Bulldogs have won six straight games and 10 of the last 13 contests, and just finished a stretch of 24 games in 26 days in the month of March, posting a 16-8 mark.

Cumberland has faced five teams ranked in this week’s Top 25, including third-ranked Embry-Riddle, No. 5 Brewton-Parker, eighth-ranked LSU-Shreveport, No. 12 Northwood University, 20th-ranked Missouri Baptist and No. 25 Tennessee Wesleyan, compiling a 5-6 record. The Bulldogs host seventh-ranked Union University this weekend in a three-game series and still have contests scheduled versus No. 2 Lee University and Tennessee Wesleyan.
