LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland moved up three spots to seventh in the fourth edition of the 2011 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released Tuesday by the national office. The Bulldogs have won 10 straight contests after Tuesday night’s 7-4 victory over top-ranked Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.
Cumberland has won 17 of its last 18 games overall since March 22, with only a 4-0 defeat to then seventh-ranked Union University. The Bulldogs are currently tied atop the TranSouth Conference standings with Union and Trevecca Nazarene at 14-4 in league play.
CU heads to Batesville, Ark., this weekend for a three-game series against Lyon College and concludes the regular season next week with a single game at Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday and a three-game series at home versus Mid-Continent on April 28 and 29.
Cumberland has played seven teams currently ranked in the Top 25, including Lee, Embry-Riddle (2nd), LSU-Shreveport (5th), Missouri Baptist (11th), Brewton-Parker (13th), Union (16th) and Belhaven University (25th), compiling an 8-5 record against those teams.
