Baseball schedule altered for the week

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University’s baseball schedule has been altered for the rest of the week, with Tuesday’s game against Bryan College canceled as well as Wednesday’s contest at Bethel University. The Bulldogs will now play a doubleheader on Wednesday at home versus Mid-Continent University beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs and Cougars were originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Monday at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium, but with forecasts calling for sleet and ice and possibly snow and daytime temperatures forecasted for at or below the freezing mark, the games were postponed on Sunday.

The inclement weather on Monday and forecasted temperatures in the teens on Monday night caused the cancellation of Tuesday’s game against Bryan College and the precipitation made Bethel’s field unplayable, casuging Wednesday’s cancellation.

Cumberland, ranked 10th nationally, won 2-of-3 games at 23rd-ranked Georgetown College over the weekend to begin Mid-South Conference play. The Bulldogs, 11-5 overall, have won nine of their last 12 games overall. CU hosts Shawnee State in a weekend series on Friday and Saturday at home as well.
