LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University’s Sam Lind was voted the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday for the third straight week after batting .500 with seven runs scored and eight RBIs in four games for the Bulldogs.
The Hartford, S.D., native posted seven hits in 14 at-bats along with one double, four walks and a stolen base in the four outings.
The senior was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and five RBIs along with three runs scored in a midweek victory over Bethel University. He collected four hits in the weekend series against the University of the Cumberlands, posting a double and two walks with three runs scored in Friday's series opener.
Lind hit the game-winning three-run homer in the first game on Saturday against the Patriots and singled and stole a base in the second contest. He leads the nation in hits (71), ranks second in total bases (111) and RBIs (51) and sixth in batting average (.458).
Cumberland hosts fifth-ranked Georgia Gwinnett at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium and continues a nine-game homestand this weekend with a three-game series versus the University of Pikeville.
