LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Tyler Anderson received the 2014 Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Gold Glove at shortstop, as selected by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association All-America Selection Committee. For the eighth year, a total of nine players were chosen based upon their defensive success.

The Cocoa, Fla., native made just two errors in 194 chances during the regular season, which included the first 27 games of the year at third base before moving to shortstop because of an injury. His steadiness and sure hands settled the Bulldog infield and in turn the pitching staff, turning ground balls into outs.

Cumberland committed 52 errors and posted a .942 fielding percentage in the first 27 games of the season compared to a .966 fielding percentage and 53 errors in the last 41 contests. The Bulldogs were 32-9 over the 41-game stretch that ended with the program’s third national championship.

Shane Tipton (1993) and Victor Alvarez (2006) are the only Bulldogs to previously win Gold Glove Awards.
