LEBANON, Tenn. – Eight Cumberland baseball players were named 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes on Thursday. Student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average to be eligible for the award.
Smith named to MSC Gold Glove Team
LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland pitcher Stevie Smith was named to the Mid-South Conference Gold Glove Team, as announced by the league office before last week’s conference tournament in Bowling Green, Ky. Smith is now part of the pool for the Rawlings Gold Glove Team that is announced during the Avista-NAIA World Series.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland baseball coach Woody Hunt announced the 2015 schedule this week, which includes 29 home games and 26 contests against teams that played in last season’s NAIA Championship Opening Round.

Baseball ring ceremony set for Sept. 26
LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University will host a Championship Ring Celebration and Dinner for the 2014 Baseball National Championship team on Friday, September 26 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon. The 6:30 p.m. dinner is open to the public.
Cumberland’s Hunt named 2014 NAIA Coach of the Year
LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University’s Woody Hunt was named the 2014 NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (NAIA-BCA) National Coach of the Year, the national office announced Wednesday. The Bulldogs won their third Avista-NAIA World Series championship this past season, capping Hunt’s 33rd season as head coach of the program.
Wilkerson's contract purchased by Red Sox
LEBANON, Tenn. – The Boston Red Sox have purchased former Cumberland University pitcher Aaron Wilkerson’s contract from the Grand Prairie [TX] AirHogs and assigned him to the Short Season Class A Lowell [MA] Spinners of the New York-Penn League. The Spinners continue a series at the Batavia [NY] Muckdogs on Friday.
Gomez honored by hometown, signs pro contract
LEBANON, Tenn. – Former Cumberland University pitcher Anthony Gomez was recently honored by his hometown of Norwalk, Calif., with a Community Spotlight award. He also recently signed a professional contract with the Schaumburg [IL] Boomers in the independent Frontier League.
Twelve CU programs named NAIA Scholar Teams
LEBANON, Tenn. – A school-record 12 Cumberland programs were recognized this week as 2013-14 NAIA Scholar Teams. To be eligible, teams must post a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution, with the team GPA including all eligible varsity student-athletes.
