MARION, N.C.--Nate Corhouse picked up three hits and scored three runs, Ethan Shelton hit a two-run home run, and starter Hooper Mills tossed 5 1/3 innings to pick up the victory allowing just two runs.

Cumberlnad (7-4) had timely hitting in the win against the Eagles including a big five run fifth inning. The Phoenix got another strong starting pitching performance this time from Hooper Mills (2-1). Mils went into the sixth inning working around six hits and five walks, limiting Midway to just two runs. Mills punched out three batters in big spots. Wyatt Blessing entered in the sixth inning in a tight spot as the bases were loaded and got a big punch out and flyball to end the jam and Caleb Lathrop tossed the seventh to close the game.

Corhouse led the way with three hits and three runs while Pablo Custodio continues to swing a hot back picking up three RBIs. Ethan Shelton appearing in his first game of the season hit a two run bomb and also picked up three RBIs. Chase Ford had a big pinch hit single for an RBI in the big inning for the Phoenix.

Midway jumped on top first after back-to-back single put runners on the corners with nobody out. Mills induced a tailoremade doubleplay, but in came a run for the Eagles, 1-0. In the bottom half of the second, Cumberland struck back scoring two runs. Isidro Velez drew a one-out walk and Corhouse doubled him home. After walks to Brett Bello and Joey Fregosi, Custodio hit into a fielders choice, but in came Corhouse to put CU up, 2-1.

In the fourth, Corhouse led off the inning with a single to left and Bello reached on an error. Midway got Fregosi swinging, but walked Custodio to load the bases. Shelton hit a deep fly ball to left to bring in Corhouse and put the Phoenix up 3-1.

Cumberland scored five runs in the fifth all with two outs. Corhouse got them going with a knock and swiped second. Pinch-hitter Chase Ford was able to get him home with a single up the middle. After Fregosi drew his second walk of the game and both runners advanced on a wild pitch, Custodio drove them both in with a two-RBI single. Shelton followed that with his first bomb of the season to left field.

Mills gave up a run in the sixth, but Blessing came in out of the pen with the bases loaded and shut the door. Lathrop tossed a clean seventh inning to give Cumberland an 8-2 win.
