LEBANON, Tenn. – Tryouts for the 2013-14 Cumberland University cheerleading and dance squads will be held April 5-6 at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center on the CU campus. A clinic will take place on Friday, April 5 from 4-7 p.m. and tryouts will be held Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Minimum skills required include ability to lead a crowd, appearance and poise, spirit and enthusiasm, coordination and rhythm, motions/technique/jumps, partner stunts, tumbling and chants. Interested individuals must bring $10 cash or a money order payable to Cumberland University Cheer Program to the tryout. No personal checks please; only money order and cash will be taken.
All returning cheerleaders must tryout again each year. Approximately 16 spots are available, including male and female, and alternates may be appointed. Scholarship money is available for cheerleaders, though not everyone on the squad will receive aid. Those interested must currently be a Cumberland University student or have received a letter of acceptance from the CU Admissions department.
