April 21, 2007 -- With hundreds in attendance, the Cumberland Spring Game was a complete hit, according to CU Head Football Coach Dewayne Alexander.

"We had a lot of our recruits and their parents, along with many alumni and close friends of Cumberland Football in attendance," Alexander said, noting the day was made all the more exciting due to the performance of the CU squad. In all the offense scored twice, and the defense took away four turnovers during the game.

"We are very excited with where this football team is at right now," Alexander continued. "Our defense is right where we want it for this time of year, and the offense has made stride after stride."

Bulldog fans enjoyed a great barbecue lunch and terrific gridiron action during the game, and many fans took the opportunity to snag pre-sale tickets and CU football jerseys.

"Our staff can't thank everyone enough for all the help in making the spring game such a hit for everyone," Alexander said. "It was a group effort and, without the help, we could not have done it. We are just so glad that so many came out to see us."

In August, Cumberland will bring their signees on campus, and the team is currently gearing up for their first game of the 2007 season -- an away game on September 6 at Tennessee Technological University.
