Springer's double-double leads CU

LEBANON, Tenn. – Brandon Springer scored 15 points and 12 rebounds and Rontreal Braxton and Channing Tucker both added 11, as Cumberland shot 61 percent from the field en route to a 78-67 victory at St. Catharine College Wednesday night.
 
The Bulldogs (3-1) had their most balanced scoring night of the early season, with 10 players registering, including eight with six or more points. CU also hit 9-of-18 from 3-point range, including three from Tucker and a pair by Quentin Turner.
 
Cumberland raced out to a 36-23 advantage at halftime. The Bulldogs limited St. Catharine to 34 percent shooting from the field.
 
Cumberland finishes its season-starting six-games-in-nine-days stretch Friday versus Bluefield College in the Lindsey Wilson Classic in Columbia, Ky.
