LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland cross country coach Jared Klosterboer announced the signings of Kody Carr, Devin Rickard and Nathan Berget to scholarship papers for the 2012-13 season. Carr, Rickard and Berget are the second, third and fourth signings for the program since its reinstatement this spring.
Carr attended Whites Creek High School in Nashville as a freshman and sophomore and graduated from MNPS Middle College High School in Nashville. MNPS Middle College High School at Nashville State Community College is an “Option High School” for 10-12 grade students who want to earn college credit hours while attending high school.
Carr earned letters in basketball, baseball, cross country and tennis, earning a trip to the regionals in cross country. He averaged 15 points, 4.5 rebounds and two assists per game in basketball as well. He is the son of Daniel Carr and Joeann Carr.
Berget attended Northwest High School in Clarksville, Tenn., but graduated from Junction City High in Junction City, Kan., for coaches Becky Steiger, Tim Tesha and Ben Smitherman. He earned three letters in cross country and track, qualifying for the state meet as a junior and earning Most Dedicated Runner that same year. He posted personal-bests of 10:30 in the two-mile run and 18:30 in the 5K.
He was a member of the National Honor Society and is the son of Dennis Berget and Donia Ashworth.
Rickard attended Heritage High School in Maryville, Tenn., graduating in 2008. Rickard is already a student at Cumberland and will be entering his sophomore season this upcoming year. He is the son of Steve and Vickie Rickard and Gary and Patti Hamilton.
Carr, Rickard and Berget join Nameka Ratliff in this year’s signing class.
