Bulldog harriers compete at Southeastern Classic

LEBANON, Tenn. – Senior William Scheve and freshman Nathan Berget led the men and freshman Keaton Gaffney was the top women’s finisher for the third time this season, leading the Cumberland cross country teams Saturday at the Southeastern Classic in Louisville, Ky.

The meet was the final outing for the CU harriers before the Mid-South Conference Championships on November 3 in Rio Grande, Ohio.

Scheve placed 67th overall in the field of 120 in 31:23.71 and Berget was three spots behind in 32:40.40. Senior Zach Shelton finished 76th (34:29.98), while sophomores David Cheers (36:33.87) and Tyler Shankles (37:25.93) were 78th and 79th, respectively.

Gaffney crossed the line in 70th place among 97 participants in the field in 23:37.44 and junior Musheda Ali Haji finished 78th in 24:47.33. Junior Shelby Oglesby was 86th in 26:32.44 and freshman Chelsea Reeves placed 91st overall in 27:24.75.
