LEBANON, Tenn. – Garang Madut finished 43rd and Tanner Harp was 76th while Keaton Gaffney and Alesa Steiner both placed in the Top 100, leading the Cumberland cross country squads in the 19-team Berry Invitational on Saturday in Mount Berry, Ga.
Madut, a sophomore, completed the 8K course in 28:05.20 for 43rd-place among 185 runners, while Harp, another sophomore, was 76th in 29:18.30. Sophomore Spencer Rearick was 123rd in 32:26.40, while senior David Cheers crossed the finish line 134th in 35:21.90 and freshman John Daugherty placed 137th in 36:23.70.
Gaffney, a junior, paced the women’s team in 87th, finishing the 6K course in 26:38.30 and Steiner, a sophomore, was 96th in 26:59.80. Junior Savannah Pitt placed 136th in 30:31.40 while junior Chelsea Reeves finished 144th in 33:16.10, junior Megan Hacker was 149th in 37:02.90 and sophomore Christi Armstrong came across in 150th in 37:03.80.
The two teams run again this Saturday at the St. Louis Fall Classic in St. Louis, Mo., the final event before the Mid-South Conference Championships on November 8.
