Ten CU squads receive NAIA Scholar-Team Award

LEBANON, Tenn. – Ten Cumberland University squads received the NAIA Scholar-Team Award recognition this week, as announced by the national office. Teams must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution to be eligible for the award, with all eligible varsity student-athletes factored into the team GPA.

Cumberland’s women’s golf squad posted the highest GPA during the 2014-15 academic year at 3.48, while men’s tennis posted a 3.44 GPA, women’s tennis and women’s soccer recorded a 3.34 and women’s cross country finished with a 3.33.

Men’s cross country registered a 3.19 GPA, men’s soccer posted a 3.15, softball and volleyball collected a 3.13 and wrestling ended the year with a 3.04.

A total of 1,502 teams were honored by the NAIA.
