LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Claudia Tepox and Taylor Blankenship finished in the Top 20 for the women and juniors Garang Madut and Tanner Harp were in the Top 20 for the men, as Cumberland finished fifth in both the men’s and women’s races Saturday at the Berea Invitational in Berea, Ky.
Tepox posted the women’s fastest mark for the second straight outing, finishing the 5K course in 21:15.4 for 15th place, while Blankenship was just two spots behind in a time of 21:17.4.
Senior Keaton Gaffney and junior Alesa Steiner placed 30th and 38th, respectively, with marks of 22:07.0 and 22:32.0, while senior Savannah Pitt was 50th in 24:37.4.
Madut paced the men’s team for the second straight meet as well, finishing 11th overall and covering the 8K course in 28:26.1. Harp placed 19th overall with a time of 29:25.7.
Freshmen Chris Swann and Cole Nichols registered 24th and 29th-place showings with times of 29:53.3 and 30:25.9, respectively, and freshman Michael Rogers finished 34th in 30:42.0.
Sophomore Kason Halfacre was 39th (31:08.0), junior Spencer Rearick crossed in 65th place (34:43.3) and sophomore John Daugherty posted a time of 36:25.0.
Cumberland heads to the Gatorland Run in Bowling Green, Ky., next Saturday for a preview of the course that will hold the Mid-South Conference Championships the first weekend of November.
