Tepox, Madut both place sixth at Gatorland Run

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Claudia Tepox and junior Garang Madut both finished sixth and senior Keaton Gaffney and junior Tanner Harp each posted 10th-place showings for the Cumberland cross country teams at the Gatorland Run on Saturday at Phil Moore Park in Bowling Green, Ky.

The men finished third and the women fourth at the event, which took place on the same course that will host the Mid-South Conference Championships on November 7.

Tepox was the top CU finisher for the women for the third straight event, completing the 5K course in 21:05.3. Gaffney posted a time of 21:42.8, while junior Alesa Steiner and freshman Taylor Blankenship finished 11th and 12th, respectively, with marks of 22:07.2 and 22:09.1. Senior Savannah Pitt was 25th in 23:39.6 and freshman Macy Sissom placed 30th in 25:23.0.

Madut paced the men’s squad for the third consecutive event as well, finishing the 8K course in 27:25.7 while Harp crossed the line in 28:18.8. Freshman Chris Swann placed 17th in 27:57.5 and freshman Michael Rogers and sophomore Kason Halfacre finished 20th and 21st, respectively, with marks of 29:17.3 and 29:32.6.

Freshman Cole Nichols was 25th in 30:08.9, junior Spencer Rearick finished 32nd in 32:26.1 and sophomore John Daugherty placed 49th in 35:06.2.

Both teams race again next week at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.
