Madut earns Mid-South Runner of the Week honors

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland junior Garang Madut finished 17th at last week’s Berry College Invitational in Mt. Berry, Ga., garnering Mid-South Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honors on Tuesday.

Madut paced the Bulldogs for the fifth time this season, placing 17th among 154 runners in a time of 27:04.3. He has improved his 8K time in each of the last four meets, from 28:26.1 to 27:25.7 to 27:21.07 and then 27:04.3 at Berry. It was a personal-best for Madut at this distance, his third consecutive PR.

Cumberland runs again this week at the St. Louis Classic in St. Louis, Mo., and will compete in the Mid-South Conference Championships on November 7 in Bowling Green, Ky.
