Phoenix add Rojas to signing class
Alamo, Tenn., native Jerry Rojas signed scholarship papers with Cumberland for the 2016-17 academic year.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University cross country coach Jim Seckel announced the signing of Alamo, Tenn., native Jerry Rojas to scholarship papers this week for the 2016-17 academic year. Rojas is the second signee for the Phoenix for the upcoming season.

Rojas is a four-year letterwinner for coach Julie Crider at Crockett County High School, earning All-State honors in cross country as a sophomore after finishing 12th at the TSSAA State Championships.

He has also lettered three years in track and field for the Cavaliers, qualifying for the state championships in the 1600 and 3200-meters as a junior. He has personal-bests of 2:05 in the 800, 4:39 in the 1600, 10:05 in the 3200 and 16:22 over 5K in cross country.

Rojas lettered one year in soccer as well as CCHS and is the son of Jorge and Francisca Sanchez. He joins Jasper, Ala., native Jake Royster in this year’s recruiting class.
