
LEBANON, Tenn. – Garang Madut, Jerry Rojas and Riley Killian all finished in the Top 10, leading the Cumberland cross country teams Saturday at the Mid-South Conference Preview in Bowling Green, Ky.
Killian, a freshman, was the top finisher for the women’s team for the second straight week, coming in 10th in 21:24.30 on the 5K course that will also host the conference championships in November. Sophomore Claudia Tepox and freshman Amber Mays placed 14th and 15th, respectively, with times of 22:07.14 and 22:14.79.
Senior Alesa Steiner was 24th in 23:17.98, while sophomore Michaela Postell finished 28th in 23:42.22 and sophomore Gavin DuVall placed 20th in 23:48.98.
Senior Madut finished eighth on the 8K men’s course in 28:25.70 and freshman Rojas was 10th in 28:30.08. Freshman Jake Royster placed 13th in 29:03.78, while senior Tanner Harp and sophomore Chris Swann were 15th and 16th, respectively, with times of 29:38.91 and 29:48.74.
Junior Kason Halfacre placed 19th in 30:21.02 and sophomore Carlos Tirado was 21st in 31:06.76. Senior Spencer Rearick finished 43rd in 34:06.52 and sophomore Michael Rogers placed 46th in 35:21.46.
Cumberland runs again next Saturday at the Rhodes Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., before taking a week off and racing October at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.
