
LEBANON, Tenn. – Senior Garang Madut finished 12th and sophomore Claudia Tepox led the women with a 45th-place showing for the Cumberland cross country teams on Saturday at the Berry Invitational in Mt. Berry, Ga.
Madut covered the 8K course in 26:43.59 for 12th place among 189 runners, while freshman Jerry Rojas finished 34th in 27:34.39. Senior Tanner Harp came in 41st in 27:44.44, freshman Jake Royster was 49th in 27:57.19 and sophomore Chris Swann placed 60th in 28:19.02.
Junior Kason Halfacre finished 68th with a time of 28:45.54 and sophomore Carlos Tirado was three placed behind in 28:52.15. Freshman Jordan Hill and sophomore Michael Rogers placed 96th and 97th, respectively, in 29:03.65 and 29:03.81, while senior Spencer Rearick was 135th in 30:52.44.
Tepox paced the women for the first time this season, completing the 6K course in 25:21.86. Freshmen Riley Kilian and Amber Mays finished 53rd and 58th, respectively, with times of 25:50.34 and 25:58.12, and senior Alesa Steiner came in 66th in 26:37.93.
Sophomore Gavin DuVall finished 80th in 27:25.98, sophomore Michaela Postell was 83rd in 27:40.74 and sophomore Taylor Blankenship made her season debut, placing 95th in 28:22.76.
Cumberland races again this coming Saturday at the St. Louis Fall Classic in St. Louis, Mo., and takes part in the Mid-South Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Ky., on November 5.
