LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland cross country coach Jim Seckel announced the signing of Wilson Central product Joel Barlow to scholarship papers this week for the 2017-18 academic year. Barlow becomes the second signee for the Phoenix for next season.
The Lebanon native is a four-year cross country and track letterwinner at Wilson Central High School for coaches Scott Fanning and Gary Perry. He placed ninth individually at this past year’s TSSAA Cross Country State Championships, helping the Wildcats to a runner-up team finish at the event.
WCHS won region championships during his sophomore and senior campaigns and Barlow also holds the country record in the 3200-meters in 9:17. He is the son of Tim and Teresa Barlow.
Barlow joins Tim Vanjohnson, Jr. (Powder Springs, Ga.) in this year’s recruiting class.
