Barlow places 26th, Mays 35th for CU cross country

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Joel Barlow placed 26th and sophomore Amber Mays finished 35th, leading the Cumberland cross country teams on Saturday at the Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.

Mays finished the 5K course in 20:12.95, while juniors Taylor Blankenship and Claudia Tepox were 66th and 68th, respectively, with times of 20:49.64 and 20.52.28. Freshmen Elaine Park and Anne Grose placed 78th and 89th, respectively, in 21:00.98 and 21:09.42 and freshman Hannah Spring was 106th in 21:24.92.

Sophomores Michaela Postell and Gavin Duvall were 112th and 145th, respectively, with times of 21:30.69 and 21:43.61.

Barlow continued his outstanding freshman campaign, completing the 8K course in 27:07.64, while junior Chris Swann placed 82nd in 27:57.12. Sophomore Jerry Rojas and freshman Nate Mihnovich finished 91st and 92nd, respectively, with times of 28:08.67 and 28:08.78 and junior Carlos Tirado crossed the finish line 114th in 28:32.03.

Freshman Titus Williams finished 171st in 29:31.75, junior Michael Rogers was 202nd in 30:13.67 and freshman Nikita Fopiano placed 228th in 30:21.12. Freshmen Tim Vanjohnson, Jr., and Carlos Angeles-Solis were 238th and 239th, respectively, with times of 30:33.57 and 30:35.64.

Cumberland races again next Saturday at the Fast Cats Classic in Owensboro, Ky.
