LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Freshman Nickson Kipkosgei paces the Phoenix to a 10th place individual finish at the 20th Annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic.
The team took 29th place out of 62 total teams. The field was stacked with top NAIA teams in the nation along with them comes several of the top runners in the nation. Cumberland was the third Mid-South team in the standings finishing behind RV Shawnee State and No. 23 Campbellsville.
Kipkosgei's 10th place finish sets the program's second-fastest 8K time with 25.05.2. Kipkosgei set the program's fastest time in his first cross country race of his career. He was the first Mid-South Conference member to finish the race.
Denis Kipligat took 59th place posting a time of 25:54.5 and Ethan Rhoden came in at 209th place after finishing the race at 27:12.9. Kipligat and Rhoden each posted personal best times.
Joel Barlow crossed the line 19 seconds after Rhoden in 255th place, Aidan Crockett finished in 278th. Luke Freeman and Jacob Harzbecker finished at 310 and 388.
Cumberland will be back in action at the University of Alabama-Huntsville meet on Saturday.
