Thomas, Garrett tie for fourth at MMC

LEBANON, Tenn. – Senior Dustin Thomas and sophomore Austin Garrett both shot two-over par 74 and tied for fourth and Cumberland finished third as a team, six shots behind Bethel University, at the Martin Methodist Invitational at Ross Creek Landing Golf Club in Clinton, Tenn.

Bethel’s Chris Yeater carded a two-under par 70 for low medalist honors and BU’s Josh Thomas and Blue Mountain College’s Adam Hall both shot even-par 70. Thomas and Garrett were next at two-over and senior Paul Vaughan finished eighth with a four-over par 76.

Senior Guy Nardo finished 19th with a seven-over 79, while juniors Ryan Gammons and Caleb Evans both shot eight-over 80, tying for 20th. Sophomores Stewart Oldham (81) and Christian Spicer (84) placed 24th and 32nd, respectively.

Bethel won the team title by three shots over Blue Mountain and six shots over the Bulldogs in the one-day event at the par-72, 7,131-yard Ross Creek Landing course.

Cumberland finishes the fall schedule October 31-November 1 at the RedHawk Classic at Lawrenceburg Country Club in Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
