Garrett finishes second, Goodman third at Asbury

LEBANON, Tenn. – Austin Garrett card an even-par 71 and Jeremy Goodman shot one-over 72 and the Cumberland men’s golf team won a one-day event hosted by Asbury University on Saturday at Connemara Golf Course in Nicholasville, Ky.

Garrett finished second overall in the event, one shot behind Asbury’s Daniel Gibbons, while Goodman was just two shots off the pace on the 6,403-yard course. Seniors Zach Brewer and Caleb Evans each posted round of five-over par 76, tying for seventh, while freshman Peyton Broyles was one shot back at 77 and freshman Ryan Botts fired an 80.

Cumberland won the team portion of the tournament by six shots over NCAA Division III Transylvania University and finished nine shots ahead of host Asbury.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play again at The Buccaneer hosted by Christian Brothers University at Tunica National Golf Club in Tunica, Miss., on October 15-16.
