Henderson places second, Steeger third for CU men

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Nick Henderson shot five-under par over 36 holes while freshman Adrian Steeger finished at three-under, helping Cumberland men’s golf to a third-place team finish Saturday at the Mid-South Conference Spring Invitational at Shawnee State Golf Park Resort in Friendship, Ohio.

The men’s teams played 36 holes on Saturday to complete the tournament, with torrential rain in the forecast for overnight and most of the day Sunday.

Henderson carded a four-under 68 on the first 18 holes and shot one-under on the second 18 for second place overall. Lindsey Wilson’s Callum Blinkhorn was the low medalist, posting two rounds of 66.

Steeger registered scores of 70-71 for three-under and a tie for third while junior Josh Wiseman collected his best effort of the year with even-par on the first 18 and three-over on the second, tying for 10th.

Sophomore Bryson Smith, playing as an individual, recorded two rounds of 76 for a 36-hole score of 152, tied for 21st. Senior Garrett Daniel netted two scores of 77 for 154, tied for 29th, and sophomore Reece Gaddes tied for 32nd with rounds of 78-77.

Cumberland plays again April 29-May 1 at the Mid-South Conference Championships at Bowling Green Country Club in Bowling Green, Ky.
