LEBANON, Tenn. – The NAIA announced that eight Cumberland athletic teams have earned NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2018-19 academic year. The NAIA requires teams to have achieved a 3.00 cumulative grade-point-average or higher for all eligible varsity student-athletes during the past academic year to be eligible to recieve the award.
Women’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s golf, women’s soccer, softball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball all earned NAIA Scholar Team honors for the 2018-19 academic year.
Women's cross country and softball finished with the highest cumulative team GPA with a 3.470. Men's tennis followed with a 3.434 and women's tennis fell right behind them with a 3.429. Women's soccer posted a 3.400 GPA and women's volleyball posted a 3.380. Women's and men's golf rounded out the honored teams, collecting a 3.370 GPA and 3.170 GPA respectively.
The NAIA selected a total of 1,883 teams across all sports for the NAIA Scholar Team distinction.
