MOBILE, Ala.-- Cumberland Men's golf placed fifth in the Ram Spring Invite on Tuesday. The Phoenix finished the tournament 38 strokes above par, 18 strokes back of tournament winner Lindsey Wilson College.
The tournament consisted of three rounds of golf with two taking place on Monday, Feb. 22, and the final round on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Finishing second to Lindsey Wilson was the University of Mobile followed by Southwestern Christian, Spring Hill College, Cumberland University, Loyola-New Orleans, and Miles College
Tomi Acotto followed up his first-day scores of two even-par 72 's with a 75 in the final round to place sixth individually. Adrian Steeger finished in eleventh overall after scored of 77 and 73 on day one and a 75 in the final round. Reece Gadddes shot scores of 78 and 76 on the first day and he followed that up with a 75 to finish in 20th.
Isaac Walker posted scores of 75 and 78 on the first day of the tournament. He ended with a 77 in the final round to finish in 22nd place. Rounding out the Phoenix is freshman Will Samuelsson who finished 31st after shooting 78 and 83 on the first two rounds and a 73 to close out the tournament
The Phoenix will receive points toward the regular-season championship based on the fifth-place finish in this tournament. The combined total score from the fall and spring tournaments will crown the regular season champions.
The Men's Golf team next hits the course in Mar. 8-9 at the SkyHawk Invitational in Pine Mountain, Ga.
