
HATTIESBURG, Miss.--Phoenix men's golf sits in ninth place after day one of the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg.
The first two rounds of the Carey Collegiate played at Canebrake Country Club team. They shot a team score of 302 in both rounds for a total of 604, putting them in a tie for 9th place going into the final round.
Leading the way for Cumberland was Christian Lindgreen, who shot rounds of 71 and 74 to finish with a two-round total of 145, good for a tie for 7th place individually. Lindgreen fired a one-under in the first round with four birdies and three bogeys and posted four more birdies and six bogeys in his two-over second round.
William Samuelsson also had a strong showing, shooting rounds of 77 and 73 for a total of 150 to be tied for 27th place. Samuelsson played steady all day with 10 pars in round one and 11 more in round two.
Tom Scullion shot rounds of 77 and 76 for a two-round total of 153 and a tie for 44th place. Domino Mollesand shot rounds of 77 and 81 for a total of 158 and a tie for 61st place. Seth Clayton rounded out the team's scoring with an 81 and a 79 to be tied for 66th place.
William Carey leads the tournament by three strokes followed by Dalton State in second. Lindsey Wilson is the highest Mid-South team in the tournament in third with a 586 total followed by Spring Hill two strokes behind the Blue Raiders. Rounding at the Top 5 is Point University with a 590 total.
Cumberland will finish out the Carey Collegiate tomorrow with a shotgun start. The Phoenix will start on the back and will play with Marian, Truett-McConnell, and Loyola.
