HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- Cumberland men's golf stayed put for a ninth place finish at the Carey Collegiate Classic hosted by William Carey, Christian Lindgreen finished tied for sixth individually.
After a consistent day one, The Phoenix shot their highest score of the tournament in the final round. Cumberland shot a 305 in round three to move their total to 909, tying them for ninth place with Southwestern Christian.
William Carey won the event after shooting nine-over for the tournament and Lindsey Wilson finished just behind them in second with a score of 879. Dalton State finished third and Spring Hill College took fourth.
Lindgreen was the top finisher in the event for Cumberland in a tie for sixth as he shot a 219. In the final round, Lindgreen carded a 74 with 14 pars, one birdie, and three bogeys.
Will Samuelsson tied for 30th place with a 227 total. He shot a 77 in his final round with two birdies and seven bogeys to finish out the tournament. Tom Scullion finished one stroke behind him with a score of 228. Scullion carded his lowest round of the event on the final day with a 75.
Domino Mollesand tied for 57th after scoring a 79 in the final round to bring his total score to 237. Seth Clayton rounded out the Phoenix with a score of 240, tying him at 64th place. Clayton shot an 80 in the last round of the event.
The Phoenix will travel to Columbia, Ky. next week to compete at the Blue Raider Spring Invite hosted by Lindsey Wilson.
