Men's soccer drops 1-0 decision

LEBANON, Tenn. – Tom Pedrotti scored the match’s only goal just after halftime and Martin Methodist defeated Cumberland, 1-0, in men’s soccer action Saturday in Pulaski, Tenn.

The last five matches for the Bulldogs (6-6-2, 1-3-1) have all been decided by a single goal, with CU alternating wins and losses after a 1-1 draw at Lyon College. Cumberland managed only seven shots in the match, though four of those were on target.

Pedrotti scored on an assist from Kenneth Monge in the 51st minute for the only goal of the match. The RedHawks (8-4-1) outshot the Bulldogs, 13-7, including 9-3 in the second half.

Cumberland keeper Matthew Shattuck and MMC goalie Stephen Lunney both made three saves in the match.

The Bulldogs host Union University this Tuesday at 3 p.m. before finishing the regular season November 1, also at home, against Freed-Hardeman.
