LEBANON, Tenn. – Brian McNamara scored early to put Cumberland ahead, but the Bulldogs conceded three times in a 10-minute stretch of the second half and dropped a 4-2 decision to Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday night in Owensboro, Ky.

Cumberland (1-4-1) got the lead when Alex Marr fed McNamara in the box for a goal in the 13th minute and CU continued to lead 1-0 at the half. The Panthers erupted for three scorers in the first 16 minutes of the second period, starting with Christakis Agisilaou’s goal on an assist from Kurtis Roberts in the 51st minute.

KWC (1-3-0) took the lead for good on a Roberts score in the 55th minute with help from Isaiah Hagan and Gary McMeekin’s goal in the 61st minute, which included Roberts’ second assist of the match, came in the 61st minute, giving the Panthers a 3-1 edge.

Cumberland cut into the deficit in the 75th on the fourth goal of the year from Marty Owens, but with the Bulldogs pressing forward for the tying score, KWC countered with the final goal of the match. Agisilaou scored again on an assist from Grant Allen with just over four minutes remaining.

CU keeper Ian Hamilton finished with three saves in the contest. The Bulldogs return home Sunday for a 2 p.m. match against Shawnee State at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.
