CU drops 5-2 decision at WKU

LEBANON, Tenn. – Vyacheslov Glebov and Na’im Azhar both won singles matches in three sets but Cumberland dropped all three doubles outings and the final four singles tilts in a 5-2 loss to Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky., Sunday.
 
Western Kentucky won all three doubles matches, starting with an 8-4 triumph at No. 1 by Thomas Krug and Andy True over Glebov and Felipe Oliveira. WKU’s Priyank Gangadharan and Currie Martin won 8-2 over Azhar and Kody Horne and Quinn Saine and Andrew Swanson defeated CU’s Johannes Jonsson and Devin Crotzer, 8-3, at No. 3.
 
The Bulldogs (0-2) dropped all four of the other singles matches in straight sets after the three-set wins at the top two spots in the order.
 
Glebov defeated Krug at No. 1, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, and Azhar battled for a 6-1, 6-7 (6), 6-2, victory over True at No. 2.
 
Martin defeated Oliveira, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3; Gangadharan won 6-1, 6-2, over Crotzer at No. 4; Swanson posted a 6-4, 6-2, triumph against Jonsson at No. 5; and Saine defeated Horne, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 6.
 
Cumberland plays the University of the Cumberlands and Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, February 21 in Richmond, Ky.
